Naturally Steel Garden

Some project are just special, this is one of them.  Beautiful garden and clients.  Located in Maple Grove, Minnesota, this garden is just a delight to be in no matter when you visit.  But come in summer when the cardinal flowers, coneflowers, asters, gay feathers full of Monarchs, and the vegetables are all in full production.  There are sculpture elements of metal trees, raised beds, stone sink, steel screens, and limestone boulders.  I am always excited to see this garden and think what more could I add or move or remove, it is a living work of art.

Challenge

Came into an existing landscape that was just completed by another landscape company.  Primary objective was to create a plant design and to prevent neighborhood drainage from running over hot tub patio.

Solution

Over the years plants have been added to create a natural pollinator landscape that attracts birds and Monarchs.  Limestone creekbed directs water to culvert through a native prairie of Schizachyrium, Liatris, Echinacea, Lobelia cardinalis, and Veronicastrum virginicum.  Raised corten steel vegetable planters were added and fenced in to keep deer out.  Always changing and adding and deleting items in the garden.
